Multiply and Diversify the Housing Stock in Low-carbon Communities
Increase the housing supply in the right places while curbing urban sprawl
The housing crisis and the challenges of fighting climate change and adapting to its impacts require urgent action to drastically increase the number of homes in communities that sustainably meet the needs of their future residents. The potential for residential construction through sustainable urban development is still relatively unknown.
Exploring, analysing, and documenting the potential of urban consolidation projects is essential to facilitate and accelerate their implementation by municipalities, and therefore replicate these projects throughout Québec.
Based on an action-research approach, the project has developed a set of interactive calculation, decision-support, and inspirational tools. Vivre en Ville makes its expertise and these resources available to Quebec municipalities and Regional County Municipalities (RCMs) to spur action.
